About attorney Willard Schieffler

Will Schieffler is a lifelong resident of southern Louisiana. Will graduated with honors from Nicholls State University in 1995 and received his Juris Doctor degree from the Louisiana State University Law Center in 1998. While attending the LSU Law Center, Will developed a passion for litigation and the courtroom.
Upon graduation from law school, he accepted a position with a large admiralty and maritime defense firm with offices in Houston, Lafayette and New Orleans, where his primary focus was personal injury, offshore construction/property damage, vessel negligence and Jones Act litigation. While practicing law in Lafayette and New Orleans, he handled hundreds of cases, becoming a partner with the firm in 2004. The same year, he became licensed in Texas.
Will joined The Gaar Law Firm in 2009, a Lafayette firm with a focus on plaintiff personal injury litigation. In 2015, he decided it was time to return home and opened his current office, the Law Office of Will Schieffler, in Thibodaux, Louisiana, with a focus on personal injury litigation. Will is licensed to practice in all Louisiana and Texas state and federal courts, as well as being admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
Will’s primary areas of practice include: oil field liability, offshore construction liability, products liability law, maritime personal injury law, Jones Act law, aviation litigation, oil and gas law, trucking and auto accident litigation, and general personal Injury litigation. He holds an "AV" rating with Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest possible rating available with respect to both legal ability and ethical standards.
